Prime Reading offers a rotating selection of free books, magazines, and comics. You can borrow up to 10 titles at a time directly from the Amazon UK Prime Reading Page
Some books also include free Audible audio narration. This is a digital lending library where you borrow up to 10 books at a time.
There are no official due dates, deadlines, or late fees, but you must keep the following rules in mind:
• 10-Book Borrow Limit: You can only have up to 10 Prime Reading titles borrowed in your account at one time.
• The Swap Rule: If you want to download an 11th book, Amazon will prompt you to return one of your current 10 books to clear a slot.
• Membership Cancellation: If you cancel your Amazon Prime subscription, you will immediately lose access to all your borrowed Prime Reading books, and they will disappear from your Kindle.
• Removed Titles: Occasionally, a publisher removes a book from the Prime Reading rotating catalogue. If this happens, the book will eventually be automatically returned and removed from your device, even if you are still reading it.
First Reads lets Prime members download one free editor-picked yet-to-be-released book every month, you can select and download one of these Kindle books completely free to keep forever before its official release date.
Amazon splits its bestseller charts into "Top 100 Paid" and "Top 100 Free". Authors regularly list their books for £0.00 as limited-time promotions to get reviews, alongside permanently free classic literature. The list is heavily dominated by crime thrillers, romance, and mystery series starters (e.g., Book 1 of a series).
Once downloaded, you can keep these books forever, they’re not borrowed.
